It is FRIDAY and for many many many (many!) Americans (and probably other countries, too, but since I don’t know for sure, I’m sticking with what I know. 🙂 )
Friday = Pizza Night.
Since we went gluten free back in 2006 due to a family allergy, getting our Friday Night Pizza Fix isn’t quite as easy as it used to be, because I need to plan a bit better.
That said, we RARELY make it through a weekend without Pizza. There are so many awesome frozen GF pizzas available (we really like the Freshetta brand) and quite a few pizza houses in our area stock gluten free crusts.
If you’d like to make pizza at home, or an “alternative” way to have pizza on your Friday (or Sunday or Tuesday, whatever… I’m not picky… ) night feast, then I’ve got a few suggestions for you.
These options are ALL gluten free, and most can super easily be converted to Paleo and Keto by omitting the grains.
the only one that it would be tricky to omit the grain/flour completely would be the Puffy Pizza Casserole — it still asks for a flour-based baking mix.
I use a gluten free baking mix, though.
I hope you enjoy these!
Happy Slow Cooking!!
Alternative Ways to Make Pizza Night Special at Home
(I make it gluten free, can use a regular baking mix if you aren’t GF)
gluten free, can easily be keto (the only carbs come from kidney beans)
super tasty, makes a bunch, great potluck party offering
This original recipe for CrockPot Pizza Soup is completely and totally awesome. I love this so much — it truly is like having a bowl full of Liquid Pizza.
The flavors are spot-on and this will nicely satisfy any and all pizza cravings you may ever have. The carbs in the soup come from the pasta. There isn’t a lot, here, and I have used a brown rice pasta.
You can certainly omit it and just add another handful of shredded mozzarella cheese to keep it Keto.
gluten free, paleo (if no cheese is used, can use non dairy alternative), keto friendly
My last recipe to share with you today isn’t a crockpot slow cooker recipe. (scandalous, I know!!) But I really want you to all know about my friend Shirley’s keto, gluten free, grain free, and flourless pizza.
She invented this pizza, and since then it’s been reproduced all over the internet in many different ways and in many different incarnations, but she really was the very first to introduce it to me.
And we love it in our house. Even if it’s cooked in the oven, not in a crockpot…. 😉
I hope this inspires you to continue on with your Traditional Family Pizza Night, regardless of your eating plan!
have a great weekend!!
