Your weight loss diet is perhaps your greatest challenge in your weight loss program. Many people are confused over what they should eat while they are losing weight. Should they pursue a low calorie diet? How about a low GI diet? Will a low carbohydrate diet work? These questions are swimming in their head, and they have no idea what they should do.
First of all, I must mention that to choose the right weight loss diet, there are several issues that you must consider. Don’t just consider the amount of calories in your diet. That is just one part of the equation. Different people need different diets, and here’s why.
We all live different lifestyles, and we need different levels of energy to cope with the activities. For example, some people do not exercise at all. Some exercise moderate. And then there are those who are very active. Obviously, the diets for these different groups of people will be different.
The goal is to eat the right amount of foods that will give you the nutrients that you need, and you can still lose weight. A moderately active person needs about 2000 calories a day to maintain the same energy levels. So your diet plan cannot go way below this number. Otherwise, your body will start feeling deprived and will soon break down. That’s not a healthy diet plan.
If you are trying to lose weight, the right thing to do is to tweak your diet plan according to your own needs. If you are taking 2000 calories a day, try aiming for 1900 calories a day. A better diet plan would be to try eating the same amount of calories, but you increase your activity level. In other words, you burn off more calories.
